The Montessori Room
In the Montessori Room, we aim to build confidence, continue each child’s journey to independence and develop strong and trusting relationships with both peers and teachers alike. We seek the growth of the whole being through our work, play and learning about the world around us. We prepare children for their transition to Primary school by equipping the children with problem solving skills, empathy and understanding for others.
We focus on our Montessori work in the mornings through the specifically designed materials which are introduced by the teacher, but self-directed by the children in their choice and duration of their work. As there is only one piece of each material, the children learn patience and respect of the materials and of their peers work space. The children are introduced to abstract ideas through concrete materials such as reading and writing.
We enjoy many group activities through our week such as news time, role call, show and tell, baking and garden time. During the summer months we enjoy visits from members of our community such as the Garda, dentist, dogs trust and even a farm.
